five on friday

IT'S FRIDAY... and what better way to bring in the weekend by trying something new?

I am so excited to start five on friday! My mom has been reading and following some of the lovely ladies who participate for so long now and has urged me -- at least once a week -- to join in the fun. I am jumping on the bandwagon and linking up with A.Liz, Natasha, Darci and Christina!   So here goes nothing!

ONE:
I have been in search of the perfect dark brown wedge for spring/summer and I finally found it! I decided to treat myself to a little Michael Kors and get these insanely beautiful tortoise wedges this past week -- I have been drooling over them since I first saw them online. Now, DC weather, I would appreciate it if you would stop being so cold and unpredictable so I can wear these bad boys out in public. The world needs to see them.

TWO:
My sweet boyfriend texted me earlier today from work and asked if I wanted to go to the Wizards vs. Pacers NBA game tonight! His company has a box in the Verizon Center and every now and then they will give him extra tickets -- perks of living about 3 blocks from the stadium!! I always love when we get to go. Our second date was to a Wizards game and being in the Verizon Center always brings back sweet memories. Also, who doesn't love box seats with unlimited food and drinks!!

THREE:
I am completely in love with Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation! I know so many other people love this foundation too. If you haven't tried this foundation, don't walk, RUN, to your nearest department store and try it out. I know it's a little pricey but I've found that one bottle actually lasts a long time and the naturally flawless finish is so wonderful, it's completely worth it. Well, when I went to pick up a new one, the sweet woman behind the Chanel counter showed me of one of their new foundations, Perfection Lumiere Velvet. It's supposed to be a little more coverage but has a soft, velvety finish. I plan on using it tonight at the Wizards game. I'll let you know what I think!!

FOUR:
One of the perks of being a flight attendant is that when I'm off-call I can fly home to see my family -- or travel anywhere I want. My beautiful mother celebrated her 50th birthday last Sunday so I jumped on a plane Monday and spent 4 days with her, my dad and 2 sisters. I had a great time just relaxing and running errands with my mom. On Tuesday, we celebrated her birthday by going to dinner at our favorite restaurant, St. Jacques. We had the most amazing meal -- as always -- and had so much fun drinking wine and laughing together. BTW: my family is BIG on wine.

FIVE:
I've always had a huge passion for art and design. If you haven't read my first post, it explains a little about how I went from being a graphic designer to a flight attendant. I am 100% certain that I will go back to being a designer full time eventually, but I'm enjoying my life in the sky for now. To keep my creative juices flowing, I've started painting more!! I've always had love for paint, specifically acrylic, but last week, on a whim, I decided to buy some watercolor paints. Completely out of the blue, I threw on my snow boots, grabbed my heavy coat and followed my iPhone maps to the nearest art store I could find. I came home with a bag full of paper, brushes and paints. I'm having fun doodling for now, but who knows... it may become a real "thing" for me.

I hope you all have the best weekend! Until next time...

23

I don't know about you, but I'm no longer feeling 22...

On March 8th, I turned the big 2-3! Let me start by saying that 23 is not an age I have ever really thought of turning, because there are so many ages that are celebrated and looked forward to:
16: You get your license and in your head, you are free!
18: The end of your childhood years, graduating high school and anticipating college -- if you're on the expected, straight-and-narrow path. If not, no judgement!
21: Legal Drinking age. The age that you look forward to since the first day college -- well that's how it was for me. Who's with me?
22: Well, it's not all that exciting, but Taylor Swift thinks so and therefore, so does everyone else.
25: Congratulations! You should be older, wiser and a 'real' human being with a 'real' job, 'real' life and you are too sophisticated and successful for words -- HA! A girl can dream, right?

25+ seems a little intimidating. I hope it doesn't all go down-hill from there. Mr. E, who is in his late 20s seems to think that life after 25 is the best -- that must be because he met me. Isn't that right E? wink. wink. But let's be honest, guys tend act about 5 years younger than they actually are.

Well, 23 is fairly uneventful so far -- in my opinion. But who am I to talk? It's only been 11 days. I can still enjoy a stiff cocktail, I still have to pay an extra fee if I want to rent a car, I'm not settled in my career and I can't tell you, with absolute conviction, where I see myself in 5 years. But I can tell you that I have a great feeling about being 23. There is this strange, deep-rooted feeling that my life will somehow come together and begin to make more sense.

So what's so special about being 23? I'm sure as hell -- hi mom -- going to find out. Stay tuned...

I'm leaving you with some pictures from my birthday adventures and the past 11 days...

Oh! I have a new birthday haircut and highlights. I'm LOVING velcro rollers right now! Should I do a tutorial?
