Five on Friday

Well Hello! It sure has been a little while...

I have been a busy girl the past 2 weeks and I just haven't found a minute to sit down and talk to y'all. But, I am eager and determined to change that!

Let's get going with my Five on Friday for this week, linking up with A.LizNatashaDarci and Christina, with hopes that it will help us catch up a little bit on what's been going on in my life lately...

Life as a flight attendant isn't always as glamorous as you would expect, but it does have its perks. Last Tuesday, at 3:30AM, I was woken up by "the ring" (my special ringer for when work calls). They informed me that I was being quick-called and I needed to be at the airport by 5AM! Not he best feeling... But I soon realized that I would be gone on a 4 day trip, overnighting in New Orleans the first 2 nights and the last night in Minneapolis. I had never been to New Orleans before, Mr. E and I had even been talking about taking a weekend trip there sometime this summer, so I was very excited to visit. He wasn't very thrilled to be missing out. I had a wonderful time with my crew, taking a horse and carriage tour of the French Quarter, snacking on Beignets and Café au Lait from Café du Monde, drinking Hurricanes at the oldest bar, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar, and eating a wonderful seafood dinner. I can't wait to go back!

Last weekend, J.Crew was offering 30% off their colorful linen tees and chino shorts. I'm not sure if the sale is still going on, but if it is, go go go! I was seriously needing some new shirts for summer and the J.Crew linen v-neck pocket tees were perfect, I got 3 colors, the sea foam, lavender and white with navy striped sleeves! I also got a couple scoop-neck pocket tanks, in white and a neon pink color. Of course I couldn't bypass the sale on shorts, so I got a bright pink pair in the 3" chinos. Lastly, yes there's more... I saw the beautiful Crystal Shade earrings in one of the jewelry cases and to my delight, they were 25% off! Don't you just love a good sale? I think I'm taking a break from shopping for a little while...

three //
I brought out my watercolors for the first time in a while and I had the best afternoon just doodling away. I really need to do this more often...

four //
Scratch DC does it again! If you didn't read my post about this wonderful company that delivers dinner kits of amazing recipes, go on over a take a look! Last Thursday, Mr. E and I ordered the Roasted Garlic, Parmesan & White Wine Farfalle with Sundried Tomatoes, Pancetta, Chicken, Mushrooms & Peas! And yes, it was as delicious as it sounds! I was even thrilled to see they included a really cool 4-in-one spoon, spatula, kitchen tool? How cool! ...thanks ScratchDC for the beautiful ingredient picture!

For memorial weekend, Mr. E surprised me with a day trip to Baltimore. He wanted to go to the Aquarium, walk around and enjoy the inner harbor and eat some fresh crab, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend Sunday! The weather couldn't have been more perfect! We spent hours just wandering around the touristy Inner Harbor, braving the crowded aquarium and then escaped to Fell's Point where we found the perfect little restaurant to eat dinner, Riptide By the Bay. All in all, it was the perfect day, crab bibs included!
I hope you all have enjoyed your weeks and have some fun things in store for the weekend! I'm going to the Nationals baseball game tonight and can't wait to get my hands on a hot dog!!

Sephora Collection Moonshadow Baked Palette | In the Dark

I went 'beauty' shopping the other day and definitely may have gone a little overboard. I had been holding off buying some essential beauty products and decided it was time to just go and get everything. There are few places I love to shop at more than Sephora. I can honestly get lost in there for hours, which usually ensures that I end up in the checkout line with a basket full of things I wasn't looking for in the first place. This was one of those occasions...

I found this beautiful Sephora Collection Moonshadow Baked Palette in the color In the Dark. I was drawn to the 2 rows of high shimmer colors that ranged from the very light to very dark. This is the perfect palette for a night out or any occasion where you need an extra 'oomph'. I decided to play it safe this time and use more of the lighter colors with the deep brown in the crease.

Of course I couldn't stay away from my gel winged liner, it's my 'thing'...

I also have 3 new products that I'm in love with, Anastasia Brow Wiz, Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar. Because I'm so obsessed, I've decided to wait and tell you about them in separate posts!

Barrett goes to Prom

I missed another Five on Friday last week, and I'm not happy about it! After a long week of work, all I wanted to do was jump on a plane and go home to North Carolina to help my little sister go to her first prom! It wasn't as easy as I had hoped... I got back from work around 7pm Thursday afternoon and decided to stay at the airport to try and catch the 10:50pm flight home. One of the perks of being a flight attendant is that I fly free, anywhere at any time. But, I fly standby, which means I don't have a guaranteed seat. Needless to say, the flight ended up being completely full and I realized that I had sat at the airport for 4 hours for nothing! My sweet, Mr. E gallantly came to pick to me up so I could try to get some sleep before the early flight the next morning. I luckily got on that flight and was immediately swept up into the 'pre-prom' routine. Hence why I didn't have time to put up my Five on Friday post!

My family was hosting the pictures and we expected to have about 18 high schoolers and all their parents at our house. My mom is literally the hostess with the mostest and had planned the cutest get together. We had a beautiful table set out on our front porch full of yummy treats. In true Southern Belle fashion, my little sister, Barrett, baked bowtie shaped sugar cookies and iced them to perfection. We had a big bowl of fluffy cotton candy, chicken salad pastries, pimento cheese and crackers, chocolate covered strawberries and Arnold Palmers in a big pitcher. Not only that but my mom had made some amazing props for all the prom-goers to take pictures with. We had big empty frames, funny hats and all kinds of mustaches, sunglasses and other things to cover your face. One of my jobs was to write "Prom 2014" on a little chalkboard sign.

I was also in charge of everything beauty related for my little sister. I took her to get her nails done and she chose this beautiful pale pink color with gold glitter on her ring fingers as an accent nail. I took her to her hair appointment and made sure it was exactly what she wanted, half-up with a little body and loosely curled. After all of that, I did her makeup. I ended up almost exactly recreating the first prom look I demoed in my blog post from a few weeks ago! I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and created a pinky-gold, shimmery look with black gel winged liner, a few individual false lashes at the outer corners and a soft pink lip.

All in all it turned out spectacular! Barrett looked absolutely stunning in her Lily Pulitzer full length dress and everyone seemed to really enjoy and appreciate all the thought that we had put in to the everything. Don't you just miss prom?
